Veikkaus is committed to a number of sustainability initiatives that help build a more sustainable future and a better money gaming industry.

External commitments
UN Global Compact
In autumn 2021, we joined the UN Global Compact – the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. We are committed to promoting its principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption, and we report annually on our progress.
UN Sustainable Development Goals
The goals of our responsibility program support the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Out of the 17 goals, the most relevant for us are: 3) Good health and well-being, 5) Gender equality, 8) Decent work and economic growth, 12) Responsible consumption and production, 13) Climate action and 16) Peace, justice and strong institutions.
Science Based Targets
We are committed to the SBTi targets and to reducing our environmental impact while helping to mitigate climate change. Our goal is to become a carbon-neutral gaming company.
Yhteiskunnallinen yritys
The Association for Finnish Work has granted Veikkaus the Yhteiskunnallinen yritys label in recognition of successfully combining business goals with societal impact.
Avainlippu
Veikkaus has been awarded the Avainlippu, indicating that our products are made in Finland and our services are of Finnish origin – meaning we provide employment in Finland.
United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports
United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS) monitors and analyzes suspicious betting activities worldwide and facilitates information sharing between national lottery operators offering sports betting.
Certifications – verified responsibility
Veikkaus operates in line with several responsibility standards specific to the gambling industry. Compliance with these standards has been verified by an independent third party.
World Lottery Association
We have been awarded the highest level (4) of theWorld Lottery Associationin (WLA) Responsible Gaming certification, valid until 2027.
European Lotteries
In 2024, we scored a full 100 points in all categories of the European Lotteries (EL) Responsible Gaming certification assessment.
European Casino Association
In 2024, we achieved a perfect score of 100 points in theEuropean Casino Association (ECA) Responsible Gaming certification assessment.
WLA Security Control Standard
Veikkaus has a quality and security management system, which includes the WLA-SCS security standard as one of its components.
ISO certificates
Our quality and security management system is also based on the ISO/IEC 27001 information security certificate and the ISO 9001 quality certificate.
PCI DSS certificate
Our quality and security management system is based on the PCI DSS security standard for payment cards.
Veikkaus’ own commitments and principles
Code of Conduct
Our Code of Conduct defines how we operate – outlining acceptable conduct within the company. It addresses topics such as giving and receiving gifts, identifying conflicts of interest, and the use of information and company assets.
Code of Conduct for Suppliers
We apply a Code of Conduct for goods and service suppliers, which each supplier must commit to as part of the procurement agreement.
Ethical principles for the use of AI
Our ethical principles for the use of AI are applied within the framework of the Lotteries Act and other applicable legislation. We regularly update these principles to ensure compliance with current laws, regulatory decisions, and guidelines.
Game development ethical principles
We carry out a responsibility assessment for every game concept we develop. Veikkaus’ ethical guidelines for game development reflect our commitment to safer gaming and help ensure that games are designed with player safety in mind. As part of these guidelines, we have also defined a set of ethical principles for game development.
Privacy policy
Our privacy policies cover loyalty customers, player research, and anti-money laundering.
Publishing winner interviews
We respect our winners’ privacy and only publish interviews with their consent.
