Veikkaus commits to promoting equality and non-discrimination
At Veikkaus, we aim to foster an equal and racism-free work environment where everyone can feel valued and accepted for who they are. This is why we are participating in the national "Action, not only words" campaign, which challenges organizations to take concrete actions to promote equality.
Caring and together are important values for us – and they also mean responsibility for the kind of work community we build together every day. We actively work towards ensuring that equality, fairness, and non-discrimination are realized at Veikkaus.
By participating in the "Action, not only words" campaign, we put our values into practice. Organizations taking part in the campaign make a public commitment and choose concrete actions to promote equality.
"Through this commitment, we aim to improve our operations and contribute to building a more equal society – one where there is no room for discrimination. Equality is a resource and a key to success for us, and it is reflected in how we treat each other and the culture we build every day," says Veikkaus EVP, People, Culture and Communications Reija Laaksonen.
"Promoting diversity and equality is not an isolated project but part of our responsibility efforts and everyday actions. It's a long-term commitment that shows in how we recruit, train people, and interact with each other. We all have an important role to play in ensuring that our work community is free from racism and that everyone is accepted for who they are," emphasizes Johanna Lipponen, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Veikkaus.
During the commitment period, we will focus on the following actions:
- Increasing open discussions about the realization of equality and areas for improvement within our organization.
- Strengthening our knowledge base on the needs for diversity and equality development within our organization.
- Ensuring that everyone in our organization understands their role and responsibility in creating a racism-free community.
- Strengthening the principles of safer spaces in our operations.
- Ensuring that training on addressing racism and promoting equality is available to all and that internal communication on the topic is active.
- Utilizing anonymous recruitment to promote non-discriminatory hiring and increase the diversity of our work community.
- Introducing a diversity statement in our job postings.
