Winner of massive 74.1 million euro Eurojackpot: “I’m off to clear the snow now”
The first Eurojackpot draw of the year brought the jackpot to Finland for the 24th time in the game’s history. The win went to a woman from Helsinki, who had played her line online. Veikkaus reached the winner by phone and was able to congratulate the brand‑new multimillionaire straight away.
The lucky Helsinki resident had played a quick pick line at veikkaus.fi for Friday’s Eurojackpot draw, and it hit the staggering jackpot of 74,104,783 euros.
The win is the fourth-largest Eurojackpot prize ever to land in Finland, and the largest money gaming win ever awarded to a single individual in Finland.
– I don’t think I fully understand yet how much money I’ve won. Maybe it’ll sink in better once the money actually shows up in my bank account, the lucky Helsinki woman said.
She will receive her winnings after the three‑week waiting period has ended.
The woman, who was the only player in Europe to hit the jackpot line in Friday night’s draw, checked her numbers first thing on Saturday morning.
– I saw that the jackpot had come to Finland. I noticed that and then decided to check my own game as well. And there it was – the win. Phew! I could barely stay on my chair, the winner recalled.
– My sleepiness disappeared on the spot!
The winner plans to keep the news of her good fortune very tightly under wraps.
– The news is staying within the four walls of my own home. That’s clear.
Her home is now guarding a big secret – and in future, that home will also be getting a makeover.
– What I can say at this point is that I probably won’t be working on public holidays anymore. I won’t need to do that for the money. And at some point, there’ll be some renovation work on the home. Other than that, I can’t really say anything about plans yet. I need time to think.
Her short‑term plans, however, were very clear.
– Thank you for your congratulations and thank you for this win. Now I’m going outside to clear the snow.
– If there’s going to be any celebration, that will come later. Not yet.
