From courage to opportunities – Veikkaus at SuomiAreena
SuomiAreena will once again bring together Pori with topical social discussions, encounters and future themes. Veikkaus will participate in Pori from 23 to 25 June to discuss Finnish expertise, the market transformation and the courage to pursue something big. We are also bringing the World Cup atmosphere to football fans.
Veikkaus is going through a historic phase. The Finnish gambling market is opening up to competition, and the change challenges the entire industry to renew. At the same time, Finnish expertise and creativity have a huge opportunity to grow and succeed internationally.
Veikkaus' directors Reija Airas and Tuomo Puumala will take to the stages of SuomiAreena on Tuesday in two topical discussions. At Veikkaus’ invitation-only events, leading names from sports and culture will share their journeys towards big goals and great dreams.
How do Finnish stories conquer the world?
Finland is a small country with international-level excellence. Expertise on which it is possible to grow beyond its size. So far, however, few songs, brands or formats have managed to grow into truly international success.
Tuomo Puumala, EVP, Data, AI, Corporate Responsibility, Public Relations and Customer Service, will participate in the discussion on how well we in Finland have realised the potential for international growth in the creative industries and taken actions to accelerate growth.

Reija Airas, EVP, People, Culture & Communications, will be involved in discussing how the state-owned company is preparing for the opening up of competition and what kind of investments the new era requires.

Invitation-only events focus on courage and dreams
In addition to public discussions, we will be organising three days of invited guest events in Pori, the theme of which is the courage to see opportunities where others see the risk of failure. The events will be hosted by Julius Sorjonen, a well-known sports commentator.
The top experts in their own fields tell us what it takes to start striving for something big and move towards goals even in the midst of uncertainty. The speakers are former national team captain and footballer Sami Hyypiä, sprinter Nooralotta Neziri, film director Aku Louhimies, actor Andrei Alén, CEO of Veikkaus Arena Katja Leppäkoski and former ice hockey player and co-owner of Jokerit Ossi Väänänen.
World Cup viewing area brings the tournament atmosphere to the heart of Pori
In addition to the discussions at SuomiAreena, Pori is also experiencing a football summer. We are involved in offering football fans a World Cup football tournament viewing area in the SuomiAreena area on Gallen-Kallelan katu and on the terraces of Hotel Vaakuna's restaurants.
The evening matches of the World Cup football will be shown on the screen of the Satakunta stage on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday:
